What Do You Do?

“𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤?” It’s a question that comes up often. Recently, while hiking with some friends and their group, someone asked me, "What do you do?"
I could’ve gone straight to, “I’m a communication consultant,” but instead, I said, “Well, have you ever been in a situation where a team wasn’t aligned on their messaging, or where an organization couldn’t figure out how to communicate something important to their intended audience?”
They nodded, so I continued, “That’s where I come in. I support organizations in communicating more effectively and strategically across a wide range of areas. Whether it’s internal teams, external stakeholders, or the media, I make sure the right message reaches the right people in the right way.”
Then I gave a few examples of what that actually looks like in practice, because it’s such a broad field:
· 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, focusing on big-picture storytelling and ensuring an organization’s identity is reflected in what they say and do.
· 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, including content creation, managing channels,
storytelling, and ensuring consistent messaging across platforms.
· 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, creating strategies to help leadership connect with teams, or rolling out initiatives in ways that are clear and meaningful.
· 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, helping executives develop their voice, deliver impact at events, or build trust within their teams.
· 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, preparing responses to potential challenging situations and ensuring that messaging remains calm, clear, and credible at critical moments..
· 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, a growing priority for organizations, highlighting efforts to meet environmental or social goals in a way that’s both transparent and engaging.
· 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, simplifying complex reports for banks, investors, employees, or the media without losing precision.
· 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, ensuring every detail matters so the messaging and experience leave a strong impression.
A lot of what I do isn’t just about communication itself; it’s about listening, understanding the core challenges, and proposing solutions that make life easier for teams, leaders, and their audiences. Sometimes the biggest impact comes from fixing what feels like small issues, like streamlining how updates are shared internally or cutting through technical language in a report to make it accessible to everyone.
For me, the most fulfilling part of this work is seeing how clearer, stronger communication can improve teamwork, rebuild trust, amplify results, and help people feel understood.
I love helping create connections wherever they’re needed most.
